Background
Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), a positive-strand RNA virus of the Picornaviridae family, is a persisting global concern. EV-A71 is primarily transmitted through the fecal-oral route, causing hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), severe central nervous system complications, neural damage, and even life-threatening. VP1 is a structural capsid protein consisting of 297 amino acids, promoting infection by binding to specific receptors on the surface of host cells, including P-selectin glycoprotein ligand 1 (PSGL-1), scavenger receptor B2 (SCARB2), annexin II protein, sialylated glycan, and heparan sulfate.
