Background
DR5 (Death Receptor 5), also known as CD262 or TRAIL-R2 (Tumor Necrosis Factor-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand Receptor 2), is a cell surface receptor belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. It plays a crucial role in apoptosis, or programmed cell death, by binding to its ligand, TRAIL (Tumor Necrosis Factor-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand). Upon ligand binding, CD262 triggers apoptotic signaling cascades within the cell, leading to cell death. CD262-mediated apoptosis is an important mechanism for regulating cell proliferation and maintaining tissue homeostasis. Additionally, CD262 activation has been explored for its therapeutic potential in cancer treatment, as it selectively induces apoptosis in cancer cells while sparing normal cells. Understanding the function and regulation of CD262 is essential for developing targeted therapies for cancer and other diseases.

Death receptor 5, TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand receptor 2 (TRAIL receptor 2; TRAIL-R2), CD262
