Background
TNFR-1, or Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor 1, is a transmembrane protein receptor found on the surface of various cell types. It serves as a key mediator in the signaling pathway activated by Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a cytokine involved in inflammation and immune response regulation. Upon binding with TNF-alpha, TNFR-1 triggers downstream signaling cascades that regulate cell survival, apoptosis, and inflammation. Dysregulation of TNFR-1 signaling has been implicated in autoimmune diseases, inflammatory conditions, and cancer. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of TNFR-1 activation is crucial for developing targeted therapies for diseases involving TNF-alpha dysregulation.
