Background
TNFR-2, or Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor 2, is a transmembrane protein found on the surface of various cell types, including immune cells and endothelial cells. It serves as a receptor for Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a cytokine involved in inflammation and immune regulation. TNFR-2 signaling modulates cell survival, proliferation, and immune responses, playing a critical role in tissue homeostasis and host defense. Dysregulation of TNFR-2 has been implicated in autoimmune diseases, inflammatory disorders, and cancer. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying TNFR-2 signaling is essential for developing targeted therapies to modulate immune responses and treat associated diseases.
