Tumor disease animal models are essential for simulating the occurrence, progression, and treatment response of human tumors.

These models play a crucial role in evaluating the efficacy of novel anticancer therapies, targeted drugs, and immunotherapies.

Among various model organisms, mice are widely used in cancer research due to their stable genetic background, rapid reproduction, and well-established genetic modification techniques.

SIDSCO Biomedical primarily establishes tumor animal models using the following approaches:

  • Xenograft Model
    Human tumor cells (Cell line-derived xenograft, CDX) or patient-derived tumor tissues (Patient-derived xenograft, PDX) are implanted into immunodeficient animals to mimic tumor growth and treatment response.
    This model is particularly suitable for evaluating targeted therapies, such as PDX models, which can predict the effectiveness of personalized treatments.

  • Induced Tumor Model
    Tumors are induced in animals using chemical carcinogens (e.g., DMBA-induced skin cancer), radiation, or viruses.
    This model is especially useful for studying environmental carcinogens and developing cancer prevention strategies.

 

Beyond disease animal models, SIDSCO Biomedical operates an in-house pathology laboratory with contracted veterinary pathologists, providing histological staining and disease interpretation services for post-experiment analysis.
